How to care for polymer clay jewelry
Polymer clay jewelry is lightweight and durable, but like any jewelry it needs a little care. A few simple rules will keep the colors bright and the chains shiny.
Cleaning
Wipe pieces with a dry soft cloth after wearing. If needed, use a slightly damp cloth with mild soap and dry immediately. Avoid acetone, alcohol-based cleaners and abrasives — they can damage the surface.
Storage
Store pieces separately in a box or pouch so they don't scratch each other. Keep them away from damp places like the bathroom.
What to avoid
Don't spray perfume or hairspray over your jewelry, and keep it away from direct sunlight and high heat. Polymer clay handles it fine, but metal parts can tarnish.
Chains and clasps
Metal parts (chains, studs, hoops) can tarnish with moisture. Wipe them with a dry cloth and store them dry. If a chain shortens or a clasp breaks, write to us — most of the time it can be fixed.
Common questions
Can the jewelry get wet?
Polymer clay doesn't mind water, but metal parts do. Take jewelry off before a shower, the pool or the sea.
Will the colors fade?
Not if you follow these tips. Direct sun and chemicals are the main enemies.
